Angolan Ecclesiastical Law

The most recent book by Father Clément Mulewu Munuma Yôk, with 184 pages, analyzes the Framework Agreement signed between the Republic of Angola and the Holy See on September 13, 2019, which aims to consolidate the relations between the Angolan State and the Catholic Church. This international treaty recognizes the legal personality of the Church and regulates various aspects of its activities in Angola:

Religious Freedom: The Angolan State guarantees the free exercise of the Church's activities, including worship, education, charity, and associations.

Legal Recognition: The Church and its entities are recognized as canonical legal persons, with civil registration required for legal effectiveness.

Ecclesiastical Property: The Church can own and manage property, collect donations, and establish foundations.

Tax Exemptions: The Church is exempt from taxes as long as the assets are used for religious purposes.

Education: Catholic educational institutions are integrated into the national system, and diplomas from Catholic universities are recognized.

Canonical Marriage: Canonical marriage has civil effects once it is registered.

Religious Assistance: The Church may provide assistance in prisons, hospitals, ports, and airports.

Communication and Confidentiality: The State guarantees the Church's freedom of communication with the Holy See, respecting sacramental confidentiality and the inviolability of archives.
